Practicing Good Oral Hygiene During the Summer Months
July 8th, 2010

With school out and warm weather to enjoy, keeping your teeth and braces clean may not be the first thing on your mind. However, we want to remind all of our patients how important it is to keep up their daily oral hygiene habits, and Jessica, records coordinator here at Wilson Orthodontics, had a few tips to share!
The best advice I can think of would be to brush after every time you eat. The more you brush the more routine it will become. Floss at least once a day, and carry floss in your purse, pocket or wallet. There is even a product called the "floss card" that is the size of a credit card making it easy to store in a billfold.
One element that patients often forget is to brush in all spots. We know it is vacation time, but you shouldn't slack off on brushing, daily flossing, and wearing your rubber bands! The best advice: brush after you eat and try to floss at least once a day. For patients having trouble getting to all the nooks and crannies, a Water Pik can help!
